You’re Engaged!! Now What?!?

Ohmygosh, I am so happy for you and your new engagement! This is so exciting and is the beginning of a really magical journey

Now that you’re engaged, you might be thinking - “Now What??” Where does the Wedding Planning even BEGIN? How do we start?

Step 1: ENJOY

Being engaged comes with a lot of bliss - well wishes from loved ones, excitement, maybe even an engagement party! Before the wedding planning begins, make sure you take time to soak in all the yummy goodness of engaged life.

Step 2: Type of Wedding

Now that you’re back in reality, let’s talk about the wedding. The first thing you’re going to need to do is decide what type of wedding you wish to have. Is it:

  • A destination wedding?

  • A small wedding with a small guest list?

  • A large wedding with everyone you know?

  • Religious? Not religious?

  • Outdoors? Indoors?

Fortunately (and maybe, unfortunately) the options are endless, and please, please, please remember that this is YOUR DAY!

Step 3: Guest List

Kind of tying into Step 2, focus on how big/small you want your wedding to be. Note: this is where you’ll start to be a bit cutthroat, since more people generally means a larger budget. Chat with your families, and most importantly each other, to see what would make the most sense for you.

Step 4: The “B” Word

Now, you’ll need to sit down and really think about a budget, and who will contribute to what. Find something that works for everyone, and keep Step 2 (Type of Wedding) and Step 3 (Guest List) in mind! Again, a larger guest list means a bigger budget. Also, be super realistic. Prices for wedding categories across the board are increasing for 2022 and 2023, due to inflation and post-pandemic industry rehab!

Step 5: Hire that Wedding Planner!

After you’ve figured out the kind of wedding you want, the guest list, and the budget, enlist a wedding planner to help you figure out where to go next. As I said in my previous blog, do you need a wedding planner? Not necessarily. However; would you build a house without at least the consultation of a professional? No, you wouldn’t.

Step 6: Pick your venue!

The next step is to… choose the venue and date! Sometimes, you’re able to choose your date and your venue will align. However, be flexible about your date choice, since your venue might not be available.

Your wedding planner will help you sort through all the different kinds of venues with you, to choose something that fits the kind of wedding you want to have. What are all the different kinds of venues? Stay tuned next week….
