Travel + Wellness

This summer is definitely the “summer of travel” - we are returning to pre-COVID rates of humans wanting to experience the world, and I am THRILLED.

Coming off an insanely fun-filled week in Portugal, here are some ways that I like to “stay on track” while still indulging in all the goodness when abroad.

1.HYDRATE

This is a no-brainer - I preach that food eaten outside the home will always be saltier and made with lesser-quality ingredients compared to foods prepared at home. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t enjoy when away, but be sure to have an extra bottle of water on-hand just in case the food adds a salty punch!

2. Vitamins!

Keeping your immune system in tip-top shape while you’re wandering through crowded streets is a HUGE goal! Try some immunity supplements that have vitamin C, vitamin D, and Zinc for the biggest immunity boost. I love this brand - everything on one - and small enough to throw into your carry-on!

3. Move to the beat of your own drum

I preach consistent movement during your regularly scheduled life - but what about when traveling? Pack a few extra workout outfits, and get that walk/hike/jog/bike ride in, preferably to see some incredible scenery! Your body and your soul will thank you, and then you’ll build up the perfect appetite for a hearty breakfast

4. Choose at least ONE vegetable per meal!

I love, love, love indulging in all things carbs and dairy when on holiday. However; I do try and make sure every single meal has some kind of vegetable (which proved to be particularly challenging in the Iberian Peninsula). Except when the breakfast is a croissant or a pastel de nata. In those instances - live a little and eat the croissant.

5. Don’t sweat the small stuff

You’re traveling. You’re busy. Enjoy the beauty around you, soak up the quality time with your loved ones (especially if it’s a solo trip), and relax.
